update overdue

A problem with the database forced me, after tree years of inactivity, to do some maintenance.  Two conclusions are inevitable: pixelpost and wordpress are fabulous, an i am terribly lazy!
Something like this showed up instead of a photo:
….. is marked as crashed and should be repaired
a quick search learned me the solution is rather easy: here it is

I updated to the latest pixelpost and wordpress version without a glitch, only a number of plugins need some work.
A word of thanks to the makers of this software and its plug-ins is in order!

my day in photos

Check out this website, the basic idea is to post some 20 photos taken on the same day. Mine, taken on may 17 2007, can he found here. I participated because ….. i wanted to be in the company of Frank Boenigk from photoshau or Marco Martinelli from light-opinion or Juan Buhler from this amazing blog or Jens Hoffmann from look-s or Imran Saleh from fotobyimran !

exactly 400 years ago ….

It was in Mantua Italy, in the accademia degl’Invaghiti where the first performance of L’ Orfeo by Claudio Monteverdi was given. And tonight, exactly 400 years later, we went to the concertgebouw here in Bruges to hear that Opera performed by Concerto Italiano conducted by Rinaldo Alessandrini and ad the following singers: Furio Zanasi, Anna Simboli, Sara Mingardo, Sergio Foresti, Monica Piccinini, Antonio Abete, Luca Dordolo, Raffaele Giordani, Gianluca Ferrarini and Marco Scavazza. Opera would not be opera without Monteverdi and after hearing and seeing L’Incoronazione di Poppea a couple of years ago, we got tickets for good seats and we certainly do not regret it. What a tragic story and how vicious those gods…. I will certainly remember Furio Zanasi as Orfeo. The emotional impact of the intervention by Sara Mingardo where in Act 2 she informs Orfeo of the death of Euridice was overwhelming (and that is an understatement!) You can read about Orfeo’s tragic story here and for the real musicians take a peak at the score here
